Location

The entrance to the Stubai Valley, which locals like to refer to as the Stubai, is almost within reach from Innsbruck at a distance of barely 10 kilometers.
And yet the hustle and bustle of the big city seems far away when you look at the mighty Stubai Glacier, which forms the crowning end of the valley.
The first holiday resort in the valley is the tranquil Mieders, which is located at the foot of the majestic Serles, which the poet prince Goethe praised as the “high altar of Tyrol”.
While the Ruetz rushes through the green landscape below, the summit heights of the Stubai Alps keep rising up the valley. They reach up to 3,507 meters (Zuckerhütl) and are surrounded by more than 20 glaciers.

Skiing and mountain hiking at glacier height

The Stubai is perfect in all seasons for active vacationers as well as for those seeking peace and quiet.
In summer, the Stubai High Trail in particular attracts demanding mountain hikers up to an altitude of 3,000 meters –
into a world of alpine pastures, waterfalls, mountain lakes and icy glaciers.
Eight Alpine Club huts, many snack stations and themed hiking trails such as the Franz-Senn-Weg or the “WildeWasserWeg”, which leads to the mighty Grawa waterfall, make the Stubai Valley the perfect holiday region for hikers.
In winter it is the great snow reliability due to the proximity to the main Alpine ridge that puts a delighted smile on the face of skiers and cross-country skiers.
Of the four ski areas, the Stubai Glacier is the best known – not least because it is the largest glacier ski area in Austria.
Those looking for a change should visit one of the interesting museums in Neustift and Fulpmes or the birds of prey park in Telfes.
